Last Update: 3/16/2008

HDTV and standard definition digital signals are actually broadcast on different channels than the analog channel numbers you're used to. For example, WCCO broadcasts their regular analog signal on Channel 4, but their digital signal on Channel 32 (the call letters WCCO-DT stand for WCCO Digital Television). These alternate channel numbers can be difficult to remember, so the stations use a technique called “remapping” to get their stations to show up on your digital television where you’re used to seeing them. For example, WCCO-DT is remapped to channel 4.1, KSTP-DT is remapped to channel 5.1, KARE-DT is remapped to 11.1, etc. All the Minneapolis-St. Paul local channels are broadcast from the Shoreview "telefarm," except KPXM-DT which broadcasts from St. Cloud.

Minneapolis-St. Paul Digital Television Chart

The following chart lists the stations that are currently broadcasting digitally in Minneapolis-St. Paul. The numbers in parentheses after the channel numbers indicate where you will find the signal when tuning in. In most cases, the signal has been remapped to appear where the corresponding analog channel is located. The listing under HDTV indicates whether a channel is passing at least some HDTV signals. This does not mean that all programming on this channel is in high-definition.
